Sore Throat Home Remedies!!!!

Treat Sore Throat!

For fast and effective sore-throat relief, nothing beats an old-fashioned saltwater gargle. Salt acts as a mild antiseptic, and also draws water out of mucous membranes in the throat, which helps to clear phlegm. Dissolve a half-teaspoon salt in a glass of warm water, gargle and spit out. Repeat up to four times a day.
Alternatively, gargle with a baking-soda solution. Dissolve one-half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water.
Run a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in your bedroom. Adding moisture to the air will help keep the air from drying out and prevent the lining of your throat from becoming too dry. If you don’t have a humidifier, place a bowl of water on your radiator or heating vent each night. It will work as well as a store-bought device.
Quit smoking. Cigarette smoke is extremely irritating to the lining of the throat.
Breathe through your nose, rather than your mouth. It’s a natural way to humidify the air you breathe.
If you’re plagued with a sore throat that seems to come back time and time again, buy anew toothbrush. Bacteria collect on the bristles, and if you injure your gums as you brush, they can enter your system and re-infect you.
Bolster your immune system during cold and flu season with vitamins, herbs and good nutrition. The obvious supplement candidates are vitamins C and E, the minerals zinc and magnesium, and immune-boosting herbs such as goldenseal and astragalus. Also cook or supplement with garlic, ginger, shiitake mushrooms and reishi mushrooms, all of which have immune-boosting properties.
Honey has long been used as a sore-throat remedy. It has antibacterial properties, which can help speed healing. It also acts as a hypertonic osmotic, which means that it draws water out of inflamed tissue. This reduces the swelling and discomfort. Add several teaspoons to 1 cup of hot water or herbal tea.
Hot lemonade with honey can also relieve pain. Combine the juice of half a lemon with hot water.

Home Remedies for Migraine

MIGRAINE

Migraine

Ginger - big piece
Lemon - 1 no
Rock salt - 1 tbsp

In a bowl grate ginger, squeeze lemon and add 1 tbsp rock salt. Add boiled water to it and take
steam by covering towel over the head. Steam instantly open channels and flush mucus and
gives instant relief. Do it whenever needed.

What is Migraine?

For a disorder that afflicts a tenth of our population and is the subject of thousands of private conversations each day, surprisingly few people – even physicians – can provide a coherent answer if asked:
What is migraine?

HEADACHE MIGRAINE

Migraine is relatively easy to define in clinical terms. One is said to have migraine if within his/her
lifetime there have occurred 5 or more attacks of unprovoked headache lasting 4-72 hours, severe enough to markedly restrict or even prohibit routine daily activity and accompanied by nausea or light/sound sensitivity. Note that the clinical definition of migraine does not require the headache to be pulsatile (“throbbing”) or lateralized to one side of the head: although such features are common in migraine, they are far from invariable. Nor does the diagnosis of migraine require the occurrence of aura symptoms, visual or otherwise; only 20-25% of migraineurs ever experience aura, and in that minority who do there are relatively few who experience aura with each and every attack. Finally, the headache of migraine need not be intense or disabling on every occasion; some migraine attacks may involve no headache whatsoever (aura without headache), and many attacks may involve headache that is mild in intensity and more reminiscent of tension type headache than what one typically associates with migraine.

What causes migraine?

For may years it was believed that migraine attacks arose consequent to changes in the blood vessels which supply the head and brain; aura (when it occurred) was attributed to constriction of arteries, with neurological symptoms resulting from impaired blood flow and the “throbbing, sickening” pain of migraine attributed a compensatory dilation of those and other vessels.
TREAT MIGRAINE

We now believe that migraine is probably genetic in origin and that the disorder reflects a genetically
induced hypersensitivity involving neurons (brain cells) located within the central nervous system. If a
genetically primed neuron is triggered by a change in the external environment (eg, drop in barometric pressure) or internal environment (eg, sudden drop ie strogen level), that neuron may activate and, triggering its neighboring neurons to join in, induce the pathways in the brain that normally conduct head pain to awaken and produce the familiar symptoms of a migraine attack.
As such, migraine is somewhat akin to epilepsy. Both conditions reflect brains containing neurons that are abnormally sensitive, and as with migraine, the source of this sensitivity in epilepsy may be genetic. Migraine and epilepsy are “bi-directionally co-morbid” (ie, if one has migraine, he/she is more likely to have epilepsy than normally would be expected and vice versa). Further cementing this relationship is the fact that not a few of our best medications for migraine prevention were first developed to treat epilepsy (eg, divalproex sodium [Depakote] and topiramate [Topamax]).
Both acute and chronic therapy for migraine thus is intended to stabilize a genetically primed brain
that has become acutely or chronically unstable electrochemically. While blood vessels may play an important role in the sequence of physiologic events that generate migrainous symptomotology, it appears to be the brain – not blood vessels – that represents the ultimate origin of migraine.

Treat Insects Sting Home Remedies

BEE STING

Treat Insect Sting:
Most people known to be at risk of a severe allergic reaction find the prospect of being stung very frightening. Fortunately the risks of this happening are reduced if sensible precautions are taken and the chances of a sting proving fatal are reduced considerably if the victim is carrying self-injectable adrenaline (also known as epinephrine).

Symptoms:
A bee or wasp sting may cause a large swelling at the site of the sting. Providing that the sting site is not on the face or in the airway that might be obstructed by the swelling, this is not dangerous. A few people (less than 0.5% of the U.K. population) may experience a severe, generalised allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis. The symptoms may include:
SWELLING
  • an itchy feeling
  • difficulty in swallowing
  • hives (nettle rash) anywhere on the body
  • generalised flushing of the skin
  • abdominal cramps and nausea
  • increased heart rate
  • difficulty in breathing due to severe asthma or throat swelling
  • a sudden feeling of weakness (a drop in blood pressure)
  • a sense of doom
  • Collapse and unconsciousness.
Not all these symptoms would necessarily be present.

How to Treat Bites???

1. Apply lemon juice directly to the bite to relieve pain.

2. Using half an onion. Rub it on the area. This will take away the sting.

3. Rub the area with a clove of garlic to remove pain. Garlic is a natural antibacterial .

4.Using a cotton ball, dab white vinegar on the affected site.

5. Apply Worcester shire sauce to the area. This will take out the sting.

6.Apply ice directly on to the bite, followed by aloevera gel which has wonderful healing proper ties.

Bees:
It makes sensational reading when the media write about ‘killer bees’. Bees sting only if they feel threatened or when their nest is in danger. Anyone who is attacked by a swarm will testify that it is a terrifying experience. Over 100 bee stings do not necessarily kill; however, one sting can kill a very bee-allergic person.
Honeybees (Apis mellifera) and Bumblebees (Bombus var) are generally less aggressive than wasps. Bee-keepers are liable to be stung by bees protecting their colony and wear protective clothing when collecting swarms or honey. Even when dangerously allergic, they may be very casual in the amount of protection they use.
Most bee-keepers are stung many times and become desensitised (free of allergy). A few become allergic and may refuse to give up their hobby, hoping they will not be stung again; inevitably, they are.
The bee leaves its stinger (with venom sac attached) in the victim. Because it takes a few minutes for all the venom to be injected, quick removal of the stinger is important and can be done with one quick scrape of the fingernail or a credit card.

Wasps:
Wasps are often aggressive, especially towards the end of the season (late summer and autumn). They will then turn to eating any decomposing foods. Fruit pickers often encounter wasp stings in the early autumn. From autumn until the end of the year, sleepy wasps can still be found and are then perfectly still and not buzzing, and it is much easier to accidentally touch or step on one.
WASP STING

For most of the year wasps remain the most aggressive stinging insects likely to cause anaphylaxis and are best avoided using the suggestions in the ‘Avoiding insect stings’ section below. Because wasps have smooth, non-barbed stings that can be withdrawn, a wasp can sting many times. The wasp’s sting in nature is the main weapon it has to subdue the insects that form the substantial part of its diet and for this reason it is always ready, willing and able to use its sting when necessary.

What causes smelly feet?

Foot odour results from excessive activity of certain germs which live on our bodies. The problem is that your feet tend to live in a dark, warm, moist environment. The germs that thrive in these conditions break down the perspiration on the skin and pro-duces the aroma that you know as smelly feet.

SMELLY SOCKS

What can I do to fix the situation?

To fix the problem of foot odour we need to take care of the cause of the problem, which is due to the germs which grow un- controllably and the excessive perspiration. There are several ways of doing this. Your podiatrist can help you control smelly feet for good. Contact Podiatry Care for further information on treatment.

Does my footwear make a difference?

Shoes most certainly have an effect on the degree of foot odour. Avoid any synthetic materials in the upper and lining of dress shoes. Sports shoes are mainly synthetic but are designed to allow air flow around the foot. This is something that can't be avoided as most people will wear sports shoes to some degree. It is useful to rotate shoes on a daily basis so you can avoid wearing the same shoe every day. Allow one pair of shoes to air while you wear another pair. This will help to eliminate foot odour.

Is the sock material important?

The material that socks are made of is very important in reducing foot odour. The natural fibres such as wool and cotton are more suited for controlling foot odour. Any socks containing synthetic material such as polyesters, nylons etc. will retain moisture around the foot and therefore en-courage foot odour to become more noticeable. When you are buying your socks, look for all wool or all cotton socks.
As this is difficult to achieve, a greater than 80% blend of natural fibres is recommended. Ask your podiatrist about the Humphrey Law range of socks.

Make Disinfecting Spray Easily (Home Remedies)

Make Your Own Disinfecting Spray:

Anti-Bacterial Formula:

BACTERIA

Surface spray :
Use as an anti-bacterial in areas where people are sick and germs need to be removed:
Ingredients:
1 cup white vinegar
2 table spoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup water
4 drops liquid soap
1 spray bottle
Method:
In the spray bottle combine all ingredients.
Shake well
Spray over surfaces which need disinfecting.
Apply frequently to reduce germs multiplying.

Sterilization and Disinfection:

Sterilization is defined as the process where all the living microorganisms, including bacterial spores are killed. Sterilization can be achieved by physical, chemical and physiochemical means. Chemicals used as sterilizing agents are called chemisterilants.

GERMS ON HANDS

Disinfection is the process of elimination of most pathogenic microorganisms (excluding bacterial spores) on inanimate objects. Disinfection can be achieved by physical or chemical methods. Chemicals used in disinfection are called disinfectants. Different disinfectants have different target ranges, not all disinfectants can kill all microorganisms. Some methods of disinfection such as filtration do not kill bacteria, they separate them out.Sterilization is an absolute condition while disinfection is not. The two are not synonymous.

Decontamination is the process of removal of contaminating pathogenic microorganisms from the articles by a process of sterilization or disinfection. It is the use of physical or chemical means to remove, inactivate, or destroy living organisms on a surface so that the organisms are no longer infectious.

Sanitization is the process of chemical or mechanical cleansing, applicable in public health systems. Usually used by the food industry. It reduces microbes on eating utensils to safe, acceptable levels for public health.

Asepsis is the employment of techniques (such as usage of gloves, air filters, uv rays etc) to achieve microbe-free environment.

Antisepsis is the use of chemicals (antiseptics) to make skin or mucus membranes devoid of pathogenic microorganisms.

Bacteriostasis is a condition where the multiplication of the bacteria is inhibited without killing them.

Bactericidal is that chemical that can kill or inactivate bacteria. Such chemicals may be called variously depending on the spectrum of activity, such as bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, microbicidal, sporicidal, tuberculocidal or germicidal.

Antibiotics are substances produced by one microbe that inhibits or kills another microbe. Often the term is used more generally to include synthetic and semi-synthetic antimicrobial agents.

Treat Acne Problem of Skin (Home Remedies)

ACNE PROBLEM

Treat Acne or Pimples Easily:

Acne/Pimples is a very common problem especially in teenagers, which can persist into adulthood. This condition is characterised by pimples that are mostly seen on the face but can also occur on other parts of the body too. Acne is caused by overactive sebaceous glands which produce more than the average amount of sebum, making the skin oily and the pores blocked and resulting in pimples. This condition causes the sufferer to feel self conscious and embarrassed, especially when the pimples are on the face. Natural remedies can be very effective in reducing the appearance of acne and pimples.

Use of Vitamin A and Zinc:
Zinc and Vitamin A are very effective in treating acne, so increase your daily intake of these vitamins, either through your diet or through a supplement.

Use of Toothpaste:

Applying toothpaste to your pimples overnight is also very effective in treating acne and pimples as the toothpaste dries out the blemishes.

Use of Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice applied regularly to acne is a great remedy. The Vitamin C helps to reduce the inflammation.

Use of Garlic:

Garlic is a natural antibiotic and is very effective in treating acne. Garlic can be rubbed directly onto the acne/pimples, or it can be consumed (this helps to clean the blood from the inside), or it can be crushed, mixed with plain yogurt and applied to the affected area. Yogurt contains vitamins and fatty acids that help the skin to keep its moisture without becoming oily and clogging pores.

Causes of Acne/Pimples:

Mild-to-moderate acne - blackheads, whiteheads, and small pimples:

Some pores become blocked (plugged). This is due to the skin at the top of the pores becoming thicker, combined with dead skin cells that are shed into the pores. You can see the plugs that block the top of the pores as tiny spots known as comedones (blackheads and whiteheads). Note: the black of the blackheads is due to skin pigment, and is not dirt as some people think. In many cases, acne does not progress beyond this mild stage.
Some sebum may collect under blocked pores. You can see this as small spots called pimples or papules. In some cases, acne does not progress beyond this mild-to-moderate stage when you can see a number of small pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads.

Moderate-to-severe acne - larger spots and inflammation:

Trapped sebum is ideal for a bacterium (germ) called P. acnes to live and multiply. Small numbers of this bacterium normally live on the skin, and do no harm. However, if a large number develop in the trapped sebum, the immune system may react and cause inflammation. If inflammation develops, it causes the surrounding skin to become red, and the spots become larger and filled with pus (pustules). In some cases the pustules become even larger and form into small nodules and cysts.
Each inflamed spot will heal eventually. In some cases, the area of skin that was inflamed remains discoloured for several months after the inflammation has gone (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). This is often more noticeable in darker-skinned people. Also, a small pitted scar is commonly left on the skin where there was an inflamed spot. These small scars often do not fade fully and are a marker in older people that they once had inflamed acne spots.

Causes of Hair Loss:

There are many causes of scalp hair loss, and they do differ in men and women. This article will cover the common ones. Studies show that losing up to 100-150 hairs per day is normal. Human hair naturally grows in three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Anagen is the active or growing phase. Catagen is a fairly short phase of the natural hair cycle during which hairs begin to break down. Telogen is the resting phase. The hairs that are shed daily are often in the resting or late phase in the hair cycle. Normally, about 10% of the scalp hairs are in the resting or telogen phase at any time. These hairs are not growing and are getting prepared for cyclic shedding.

In general, most hair loss is not associated with systemic or internal disease, nor is poor diet a frequent factor. Frequently, hair may simply thin as a result of predetermined genetic factors, family history, and the overall aging process. Many men and women may notice a mild and often normal physiologic thinning of hair starting in their thirties and forties. Other times, normal life variations including temporary severe stress, nutritional changes, and hormonal changes like those in pregnancy, puberty, andmenopause may cause a reversible hair loss.

Arthritis:
The word arthritis comes from the Greek arthron meaning "joint" and the Latin itis meaning "inflammation". The plural of arthritis is arthritides.

Arthritis is not a single disease - it is a term that covers over 100 medical conditions. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and generally affects elderly patients. Some forms of arthritis can affect people at a very early age.

What causes arthritis?

INFLAMMED JOINT

In order to better understand what is going on when a person suffers from some form of arthritis, let us look at how a join Basically, a joint is where one bone moves on another bone. Ligaments hold the two bones together. The ligaments are like elastic bands, while they keep the bones in place your muscles relax or contract to make the joint move.

Cartilage covers the bone surface to stop the two bones from rubbing directly against each other. The covering of cartilage allows the joint to work smoothly and painlessly.

A capsule surrounds the joint. The space within the joint - the joint cavity - has synovial fluid. Synovial fluid nourishes the joint and the cartilage. The synovial fluid is produced by the synovium (synovial membrane) which lines the joint cavity.

If you have arthritis something goes wrong with the joint(s). What goes wrong depends on what type of arthritis you have. It could be that the cartilage is wearing away, a lack of fluid, autoimmunity (your body attacking itself), infection, or a combination of many factors works.

Home Remedies for Toothache

TOOTHACHE

No Toothache Now:

Salt Water:

Mix a heaping tablespoon full of salt in a small glass of warm water; swirl around inside your mouth for as long as you can, spit out. Repeat as needed.

Tea Tree Oil:

Just a drop or two will do the trick. You can also add some to a cotton swab and hold in place or add a few drops of tea tree oil to a small glass of lukewarm to warm water and rinse your mouth with it.

Oil Of Oregano:

Mix a few drops with a bit of olive oil, then saturate a cotton ball with mixture. Can replace the olive oil with lukewarm water if preferred.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Soak a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar (ACV) and hold it in place. Can also try regular household vinegar.

Ginger Root:

Take a fresh piece of ginger and chew it a bit.

Garlic:

Take a clove of garlic, smash it and apply (settle it inside cheek). You can also mash some garlic with salt.

Peppermint Leaves:

Chew on fresh peppermint leaves. You can also dried leaves, just hold them in place.

Potato: Cut a fresh piece of potato (raw, skin off) and hold in place. Can also pound a piece of raw potato, mix in a bit of salt and use the mash.

Onion:

Slice a piece of fresh onion and hold it inside your mouth. The onion needs to be freshly cut (so it provides a bit of onion juice).

Cucumber:

Slice a fresh piece of cucumber and hold it over the sore area. If refrigerated, you might want to bring the cucumber to room temperature before using (if sensitive to cold) otherwise a cool piece can be soothing. You can also mash a piece with a bit of salt and pack it around the sore tooth.

Cayenne Pepper:

Make a paste with cayenne pepper and water and use on that area.

Black Pepper:

You can use this full strength or make a mix of pepper and salt and use on that place

Cloves:
This is remedy from the old timers (my great grandparents), rest a clove against the sore area until pain goes away. You can also use a drop or two of clove oil (BE CAREFUL: too much can be toxic) or make a thick paste of ground cloves and water or ground cloves and olive oil.

Tea
Make a fresh cup of tea then take the used tea bag (still warm) and stick it in your mouth. Careful not to tear the bag. The tannins that are naturally in tea leaves can help numb things.

Home Remedies for Headache

Headache

Headache Home Remedies:

Drink plenty of water.

Dehydration can lead to a headache, especially if you've vomited recently or you're hungover. Drink a tall glass of water as soon as your head starts to hurt, and try to continue drinking small sips throughout the day. You should gradually feel the pain start to ease.

Find a quiet, dark place to take a break.

  • If you can, try to lie down and relax for at least 30 minutes. Shut the blinds, turn off the lights, and focus on your breathing.
  • Request absolute peace and quiet. If you're forced to rest around other people, explain that you have a headache and ask that they please try to be quiet and leave you undisturbed. Pre-emptively asking for cooperation can help you avoid an ugly interruption later. If you'd like, get some sleep or take a nap, but not too long though.
  • Adjust the room temperature. Some people can only relax in a cool room, while others prefer a large blanket or a space heater. Try to imitate whatever conditions work best for you when you go to sleep at night.
  • Avoid starting a fresh tension headache. Make sure your bed or couch is comfortable and that your head is supported in a position that doesn't increase the tension to your neck.
  • Wear an eye mask to block out the light.

Massage your scalp, neck and ear lobes.

  • Doing some light massage can distract you from the pain, as well as improving circulation and relieving tension. For a basic massage, gently press your fingers over your temples, and move them in slow circles. Or, try these more advanced techniques:
  • Do a scalp massage. Hop in the shower and treat yourself to a long scalp massage as you shampoo your hair. Or, for a drier version, pour a little bit of coconut or argan oil on your fingers and rub into your scalp.
  • Find two tennis or racquet balls and put them in a sock. Lie on a flat surface and place the two balls just below the base of your skull, on the occipital bone, and relax. You may feel sinus pressure or minimal discomfort at first but it will go away. This is especially helpful for sinus headaches.
  • Have someone else massage your neck and back if possible. The simple touch of someone else who cares about you can relieve a lot of tension instantly. Have them focus on the occipital region as well.
  • Gently massaging the bridge of your nose can help relieve sinus and migraine headaches.

Herbal Treatment:

Take 3g of Hyosymus seed powder and submerge it in water for the whole night. One cup of extract is used with 1 tea spoon of honey. It is an effective pain killer like Headache.

Home Remedies for Halitosis (Bad Smell)

BAD SMELL

HOME REMEDIES FOR HALITOSIS (BAD SMELL)

Baking soda.

Baking soda is a great way to clean your teeth and get fresh breath. For fresher breath, sprinkle some baking soda into your palm, dip a damp toothbrush into the baking soda, and brush.

Water.

Water is essential for fresher breath. Swish water around your mouth for at least 20 seconds to loosen food particles and clean your mouth. Water may even work as well as mouthwash in removing trapped food particles and keeping your breath fresh.

Fresh vegetables.

Fresh vegetables, such as carrots and celery, fight plaque and keep your breath smelling nice.

Cheese.

Cheese also fights plaque and mouth odor. Opt for a bit of low-fat cheese for a snack.

Aromatic spices.

Chewing on the seeds of aromatic spices such as clove, cardamom, or fennel after meals is a common practice in South Asia and the Middle East. The seeds of these spices contain antimicrobial properties that can help halt bad breath.

Bad breath may be a problem as old as time. But it doesn't have to ruin your time, as long as you follow some home remedies before or after your night on the town.

WHAT TO DO??

Keep your mouth clean: Brush thoroughly at least twice a day, and floss daily. Food and bacteria trapped between teeth and at the gum line can be removed only with floss; if it's left to linger, it's not going to smell nice. Periodontal disease can result in chronically bad breath.

Clean your tongue, too: Bacteria left on your tongue can contribute to less-than-fresh breath, so be sure to brush your tongue after you've polished your pearly whites.

Ditch your dentures: If you wear dentures, never wear them to sleep. Give them a thorough cleaning and leave them out until morning.

Wet your whistle: A dry mouth can equal smelly breath. Saliva helps clean your mouth; it has a natural antibacterial action and it washes away food particles. (Reduced saliva flow at night explains why your breath smells sour when you wake up in the morning.) Try sucking on sugarless mints to stimulate saliva production.

Don't stress out: Stress can dry out your mouth, causing bad breath.
Avoid potent foods. Garlic and onions, among other foods, contain sulfur compounds that move on to the lungs after they are absorbed in the bloodstream. Certain fish, such as anchovies, and seaweed are high in "fishy" amine odors. Unfortunately, during the move the chemicals that make these foods so tasty and pungent stick around. And they don't smell so great as you whisper sweet nothings into your sweetheart's ear.
